URBANISME
To celebrate its 100th anniversary, the City of Deux-Montagnes has decided to entrust APUR with the planning, design, and supervision of the redevelopment of the Royal Canadian Legion building site, as well as the formerly residential land, into a park and multifunctional space, Centennial Park. This park, part of the Montreal Metropolitan Community's (MMC) Green and Blue Network, includes a naturally formed path leading to the Mille-Îles River, decorated with various amenities and street furniture. Visitors can enjoy a playground, a lookout overlooking the river, a restroom building, a bicycle stop, several relaxation areas, and an artist-designed fountain. The entire park has been enhanced with the planting of perennials and shrubs, as well as new trees. Lampposts and markers guide visitors along an organic path to the lookout. In my direction and adjacent to the restroom building, a historic millstone is showcased on a podium and integrated into the vegetation. One of the main challenges of this project was to increase the greening and detail the renaturalization of the banks, challenges that APUR's multidisciplinary team successfully met.
